Assessment team in the disaster area

Following a severe earthquake in Ecuador the aid organisation ISAR Germany - International Search and Rescue has, together with its partner BRH Bundesverband Rettungshunde e.V., dispatched an assessment team to the disaster area.

The three experts are currently en route to the city of Esmeraldas. They will assess the surrounding area to determine potential humanitarian aid requirements. “We are working in collaboration with the Ecuadorian government” says I.S.A.R. President Dr. Daniela Lesmeister.

Many people have been affected by the earthquake at the weekend. In many regions infrastructure has also been affected by the natural disaster. “Following the situational assessment, we will reach a decision together with the government on the subsequent course of action” reports Lesmeister.
