TCRH Hünxe: International cooperation with SAR dog handlers of fire service Taiwan

24.09.2018

Since the devastating earthquake in Taiwan, the German SAR Dog Association and the fire services of Taiwan have worked together in training SAR dogs for urban disaster searches, wilderness area searches and trailing problems

In September, this successful cooperation has reached a new level: Seven Taiwanese SAR dog handlers traveled to Germany to further increase their knowledge in training trailing K9s.

From Friday to Sunday, they worked with Ulrike Gehner, Head of the German SAR Dog Association’s Department of Training, and her team on various exercises and challenges associated with the training and deployment of trailing dogs.

After three days of intense and dedicated training, the seven handlers left Hünxe on Monday. They will now work as multipliers, taking what they have learned and seen into their units back home.
